Bridging Midwives

The Internationally Educated Midwives Bridging Program (IEMBP) is an eight month training program offered through UBC in which internationally trained midwives can become registered for practice within BC. We hope that you will be willing to include a bridging midwife in your care. However, if at any time you feel that you need a private visit with us, please let us know.

Westside Midwives is pleased to host two UBC Bridging Midwives July-October 2020.

Sophie Maudslay

Education: BSc in Midwifery (University of West London, UK), BA in Politics and International Relations (University of Reading, UK).

Moment I knew I wanted to be a Midwife: At 18 years old. I was fascinated by pregnancy and birth and wanted to learn everything I could about it.

Before I was a Midwife: I worked within the corporate sector in London and used to travel as much as possible.

Holly Parker

Education: Midwifery Bsc with Hons (City University, London, UK),American & Canadian Studies BA (University of Nottingham, UK).

Moment I knew I wanted to be a Midwife: In my mid-twenties, realising that I wanted a vocation with human connection and life-long learning. I love that midwifery encompasses so many spheres – biology, psychology, holistic care…and places value on intuition.

Before I was a Midwife: I worked at a Business School, organized conferences, was an international rower, and was able to travel abroad a lot.
